Court Watchers Predict 6-3 Split on Patient Protection and Affordable Coverage Act

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 14, 2012 — The consensus of more than a dozen U.S. Supreme Court and health-law experts responding to a recent online questionnaire was that the justices will rule 6-3 in favor of upholding the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

The American Bar Association’s Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases magazine, which provides expert analysis of all high court arguments, published the highlights of the responses from lawyers, journalists and academics in a special edition of the magazine “Health Care and the High Court.” The Supreme Court will hear six hours of legal arguments on the constitutionality of the act over three days from March 26-28.

This is the first time in Preview’s more than 40-year history that a special issue, devoted to related cases, has been published.
