Attending the NAIFA-Florida Legislative Day on the Hill, March 14-15, 2011, is your opportunity to participate in the political process, and visit your state legislators to underscore the importance of insurance and financial advisors in the marketing and sales of insurance and financial products.

Monday, March 14, 2011
11:30am-1:30pm: Day on the Hill Luncheon at the Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center. Our new Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater has been invited to be the keynote speaker and will review current legislative issues. NAIFA-Florida Lobbyist Tim Meenan will also update attendees on our association’s advocacy efforts to protect members from the “perfect political storm”, Health Care Reform, Tax Reform and Regulatory Reform.
2:00-4:30pm: Appointments with Representatives and Senators from your district at the Capitol which are set before your arrival by your local association.
4:30-5:30pm: Bonus session: Health Care Reform – The Capitol. Discussion will focus on how the Federal Health Care Reform legislation will affect Florida’s agents, businesses and consumers.
5:30-7:00pm: Legislative Reception, 22nd Floor of the Capitol.

Follow-up appointments with legislators as necessary.
9:00-10:00am: New this year, bonus training session for Local Association PAC Chairs, Presidents, Presidents-Elect, AEs and other interested members to learn how to further increase our influence at the Capitol, both in Tallahassee and in Washington D.C. by raising funds to financially support political candidates whose views reflect and strengthen the interests of NAIFA-Florida members.
*New this year, we are asking attendees to make an optional contribution to IFAPAC of $25 or more. Contributions to IFAPAC are voluntary, divided between your state association IFAPAC and IFAPAC-National, and contributed to candidates for state elective office (by your state IFAPAC) or for federal elective office (by IFAPAC-National). Your state IFAPAC is associated with IFAPAC-National through a federation of local, state and national trade associations. Corporate contributions to IFAPAC-National’s political fund are prohibited. Under state and federal law, you have the right to refuse to contribute without reprisal. Contributions are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
