Leadership In Life Institute

NAIFA-Florida is pleased to announce its sixth year of Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) which will commence January 2011 in the South Florida area. Members who participate will encounter the very best in personal and career development thinking presented by outstanding leaders and experience an attitude and environment conducive to deep, prolonged emotional, intellectual and professional growth. Information, practical tools, and stimulating dialogue are provided through interactive group sessions, small-team building sessions and personal reflection time.

LILI is a program exclusively for NAIFA-Florida members who are volunteer leaders in their local association or think they may have an interest in serving as a volunteer leader. The class will meet once a month for 6 months and will create a tremendous opportunity for personal growth in every aspect of the participants life.

LILI isn't for everyone and is limited to 12 participants per class. In addition to other selection criteria, candidates have to be well-rounded, financially stable individuals of good character and reputation. Candidates also have to be able to demonstrate a desire to make a positive difference in their local association, the industry and their community. Candidates are also required to have two full years of insurance or financial services business experience. The costs for participants includes tuition, and if necessary travel and hotel expenses. Candidates have to be approved by their local association and the NAIFA-Florida LILI Candidate Selection Committee. Candidates will also be asked to sign a promise to give back two years of volunteer service to their local association.

Schedule
The classes meet once a month generally on the last Friday of each month for 5 months beginning in January 2011. We must have at minimum of 7 participants to hold a class. The 6th class and graduation ceremonies will be conducted at the 79th Annual NAIFA-Florida Career Advancement Conference which will be held July 18-20, 2011 at the Four Seasons Resort/ Palm Beach. .

Tuition
Tuition is $775 and includes all course materials and lunch at each session. Travel, hotel accommodations and other meals are the candidate's responsibility.

NAIFA-Florida LILI Application 2011

"While LILI is an opportunity for great personal discovery, it also provided plenty of useful, practical assistance that was immediately applicable to my practice. It was fun, challenging, and helped me sharpen my saw. I'm still unwrapping the many gifts that it blessed me with."
Bryon Holz, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF
NAIFA Tampa local
NAIFA-Florida Secretary/Treasurer

"Although the focus was still on us as individuals, I realized that LILI is about much more than improving our locals. It is all about developing ourselves and our leadership capacity within ourselves. The skills I have learned will benefit be for my lifetime."
Kolleen Edwards

Dear Alumni members,

We are seeking nominations or volunteers to be considered as NAIFA Florida LILI moderator for the 2011 classes to be held in South Florida.

Although, 2010 has just begun, moderator selection should be completed by summer so approval can be sought through NAIFA and the Moderator can attend training in October 2010.

5 Classes will be held in South Florida (January-May 2011) and the final class and graduation will be held at our State convention (July2011/location to be determined).

Tim Holladay has volunteered to Moderate the 2012 LILI classes to be held in Tallahassee.

2010 LILI Moderator Training Conference

Saturday, October 23 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM CT

Sheraton Gateway Suites – Chicago O’Hare Rosemont, Illinois

NAIFA Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) Moderator Policy:

1. Moderator applicant must be a LILI graduate and an Active* NAIFA member in good standing for at least two years (*consistent with NAIFA definition of Active member).

2. Moderator applicant must be approved by his/her state association leaders (State Executive and President or President-elect).

3. State association leaders should confirm the applicant’s commitment to serving as a LILI moderator. This includes educating him/her on the moderator’s role, expectations, and commitments of time and energy. A LILI subcommittee member or another experienced moderator is the best resource for this information.

4. Moderator applicants (including those who have moderated before) must submit an application and supporting materials by June 30, 2010. The online moderator application is available beginning May 1 at www.naifa.org/lili.

5. Moderator applicants must be approved by the LILI subcommittee.

6. All moderators who did not moderate a class in 2010 are required to attend the entire LILI Moderator Training Conference in Rosemont, IL on Saturday, October 23, 2010 (arrive Friday and depart Sunday) in order to be certified to moderate a class in 2011.

7. All moderators who moderated a class in 2010 are not required to attend the Training Conference but are required to update their moderator certification through a web conference (all costs paid by NAIFA).

8. If your state would like to hold an institute in 2011 but does not have a LILI graduate who can moderate, contact a member of the national LILI subcommittee. If travel is required for an individual to moderate another state’s institute, then the moderator and the state sponsor should agree in advance to have the moderator arrive the day before each class. This will minimize problems caused by weather or traffic issues.

We encourage state associations to start identifying potential students now for your 2011 LILI class. We are ready to assist you in each step of this process, whether your state is holding a class again or for the first time.
