The Agency for Health Care Administration and the Office of Insurance Regulation have released an invitation to negotiate to carriers interested inwriting plans under the new Cover Florida Health Care Access Program.

The program is described by the Governor’s Office as a comprehensive market-based strategy to address the uninsured in Florida. There are no mandates required in the plans. Instead, Cover Florida partners with private insurance companies to create and competitively bid health insurance products. These products will be designed to cost $150 per month or less and will be available to Floridians who have been without insurance for at least six months.
