Two FAIFA Associations Award Scholarships

The Miami-Dade Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (MAIFA) had its annual board of directors and officers installation dinner and ceremony at the Miami Springs Country Club recently.

MAIFA sponsors scholarships for the students of the Miami-Dade School’s Academy of Finance and awarded $10,000 in college scholarship money to Ethelence Aburto at the dinner.

Aburto credited her parents, who emigrated to the U.S. from Nicaragua, for her outstanding performance in school and in the scholarship competition. President-Elect Wolfe said, “All of the entrants in the scholarship competition were outstanding, however Ethelence rose above even that level. She is truly a special young woman who will make a great contribution to society.”

Also, NAIFA - Tallahassee awarded its Herb Morgan Memorial Scholarship Award. Mark Null was the winner of the $2,000 scholarship and read his essay on “How an insurance agency/agent or financial advisor has made a difference in my life” to attendees at a recent breakfast meeting, where the new NAIFA – Tallahassee Board of Directors was installed. Mark plans to attend The Citadel in the fall.
