2007 Legislative Session Preview

Dear FAIFA Member:

The Legislative Session begins on
March 6, 2007 in Tallahassee and there are many key issues coming before the Florida Legislature that could potentially harm your clients and threaten your success. As an insurance professional your chief concern is giving your clients financial piece of mind and offering solutions to help protect their assets. Just like the financial protection you give your clients, the Florida Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors works to protect your unique interests by advocating on your behalf before the Florida Legislature the Department of Financial Services, and the Governor's office.

Click on the hyperlink below to view FAIFA Lobbyist Tim Meenan give a quick preview of several key issues we expect to come before the Legislature. (Once you get to our Web page, you may have to scroll down just a little, also depending on the speed of your Internet connection; it may take a minute or so to download.)

If you are new to FAIFA, our Legislative Day on the Hill is a once-a-year event where members come together to meet face-to-face with their legislators and their staffs to discuss pressing issues facing the insurance and financial services industry and to educate them about the important role insurance and financial services play in their constituents’ lives. It’s also a great opportunity to network with your colleagues and to expand your relationships with members of the Florida Legislature while becoming actively involved in the political process.

FAIFA’s Legislative Day on the Hill for 2007 is March 12 and is the largest gathering of insurance agents during the session. We’ll kick off at
11:00 AM with a luncheon hosted by FAIFA lobbyist Tim Meenan. Tim will report on our legislative agenda and give an issues update. We have also invited Florida’s new CFO Alex Sink and hope she will be able to join us. The afternoon is free for appointments (in group fashion) with your legislators and we will end the day with a Legislative Reception on the 22nd floor of the Capitol.

If you have already registered, thank you and we are looking forward to seeing you in Tallahassee on March 12. If not, click the following link for complete registration information:
